Completed work on an illustration inspired by the poem “Death of a Bird’ with gouache with 3 colours of blue, red and orange, as well as black and white. Creating and painting this piece was quite a therapeutic experience for 3 reasons :

• the flat 2D format – converting what I see in my mind into a graphical, 2-dimension form requires the mental process of simplification;
• the limited palatte – so I am only limited to only a few colours to flesh out the painting, and I must think ahead to ensure the same colours don’t get laid side by side.
• the subject matter of the cycle of life – ironically, it is a therapeutic to think about life and death.
